A Child's Journey Through Placement (Vera Fahlberg)    
This book contains valuable information about the needs of children dealing with separation and loss.

Adopting and Advocating for the Special Needs Child (L. Anne Babb, Rita Laws)    
This frank and compassionate account of special needs adoption covers such key topics as how to find a child, prepare for adoptive parenthood, anticipate early placement experiences, manage finances, advocate within the educational system and cope when things don't go as expected.

Learning Curves: Education Advocacy for Children in Foster Care    
Katheleen McNaught from the ABA Center on Children and the Law is the author. The book addresses why advocacy is important, key issues, and strategies to meet children/youth's needs are identified. The information is easily understood, practical, and provides a guide for the advocacy role that caseworkers, foster parents, GALS, etc. should take when working with children/youth in foster care. The appendices contain valuable resources.

Legal Options for Permanency for Children (Article, 89 KB, DOC)    
This article describes the different options for permanency for children. It defines the best uses for each one.

Lifebooks: Creating a Treasure for the Adopted Child (Beth O' Malley)    
Used by adoptive parents and social workers, this book provides a means for adoptive children to understand their history and to have a connection with their biological parents.

Sam Has A New Home (Jan Riddle)    
A book for young children(ages 6-12) who are entering foster care. It is helpful for both the foster child and the foster parent to read this book together in order to help the child understand about being in foster care.
